The Polyphonics String Trio is a string trio founded by teenaged musicians based in Rhode Island: Liam De Rosa (Violin/Viola), Holly Eyre (Violin/Viola), and Derek Chen (Cello). We are mainly a trio, but we also offer instrumental duos that may consist of two violins, two violas, violin and viola, violin and cello, or viola and cello. We present these ensembles at weddings, parties, and other special events, as well as host our own public concerts. All of our members are members of the highly-acclaimed Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestras and Chamber Music Ensembles. They all met through The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Chamber Music Ensembles, being placed in a group together, and then went on attending The University Of Rhode Island Summer Music Academy String Camp together, and eventually founding a trio of their own- The Polyphonics String Trio, which they have already done professional and semi-professional gigs for events, including an appearance at The 2020 Providence Children’s Film Festival. Our members are also a part of ensembles such as The RIPMS Alternative String Ensemble, The Warwick Symphony Orchestra, The Rhythm And Roots Festival, and The South Kingstown Summer String Orchestras.
We play standard classical repertoire but also play Disney (e.g. “Under The Sea” and “Beauty And The Beast”), oldies (“Free Fallin’” “Can’t Help Falling In Love”), Bluegrass/Celtic fiddle tunes (“Irish Washerwoman” “The Fox”), and today’s pop songs (“A Thousand Years” “Bad Guy”).
We are available for weddings, funerals, parties, and other special events.
If you would like to book us, our fees are: For the first hour- $100, For 2 Hours- $180, and For 2 Hours or more- $250
*Fee per person is dividable by the total cost (e.g. if the whole trio played and where asked to play 2 hours or more, the cost is $83 per person). We provide a 50% deposit up front in case of cancellation.
When you book us, tell us the date, time, and location of your event, and tell us any song or piece requests you may have. Also state whether you want the standard trio to play at your wedding or special event, or if you want a duo or quartet to play at your wedding or special event. Also tell us when you want us to play (e.g. in the ceremony or in the cocktail hour) and your email and phone so we can contact you. After you book us, we will contact you directly to ask any requirements you may have and also your musical preferences so we can work out a suggested playlist for you. After a little while, we will reach out a second time to finalize the playlist and to meet with you as necessary.
