Unusual Honeymoon Destinations You Really Should Consider

The best honeymoon spots are romantic, beautiful, and it’s easy to find some peace and quiet while you’re there. However, some spots are (rather unfortunately) more popular than others. If you end up booking a popular tourist destination to spend the first month of married life in, it could lead to more frustration than relaxation!

That’s why we strongly recommend spending your honeymoon in more unusual destinations; these places aren’t usually thought of as romantic, but they promise delight for married couples all over the world. Plan your honeymoon in any of the three destinations below and you’ll always look back on it fondly.

Ithaca, Greece

If you’re a fan of Greek myth, you already know where Ithaca is. However, many people ignore it in favor of bigger islands like Kefalonia, which are right next door. Ithaca, on the other hand, is a much smaller island and is a little tucked away on the outskirts of the Greek archipelago. However, that makes it a great spot for honeymooning!

If you or your partner are history lovers, spending time in Ithaca is a great idea for your honeymoon. Not only is the island beautiful, but the ancient history that can be found there is second to none. Come back and tell all your friends about what you’ve discovered – you might even feel a bit like Indiana Jones himself!

The Galapagos Islands

Another archipelago that deserves some consideration for your honeymoon list! A Galapagos honeymoon is quite rare, and very few people think about it after they’ve gotten married, but that’s what makes it such a nice spot to spend your time as newlyweds. If you’re both wildlife lovers, and you’d love to spend as much time as possible on the beach, this is definitely the best choice for you.

There is one thing to note, however. Spending your honeymoon in the Galapagos Islands can be a bit tricky, seeing as only about three of the islands offer overnight stay accommodation, but you can always book a hotel in Ecuador and then get a plane or boat over. Travel times won’t take too long, and you’ve always got Ecuador itself to explore if you get tired of jetting back and forth.

Ronda, Spain

Nestled in Andalusia, Ronda is a municipality in Spain that very few people visit when they’re on honeymoon. Indeed, while it still has a tourist scene, it’s not as busy as a city like Barcelona or Madrid. It can be an incredibly romantic backdrop for newlyweds looking to spend time in Europe – combine this with its naturally calmer and slower nature, you could have the most amazing honeymoon if you go there.

Ronda is quite an old city as well, and we all know just how beautiful ancient ruins can make a place look. If you want to witness an incredible landscape that’s rare to find, spare Ronda a thought for your honeymoon plans.
