How to Make Sure Your Skin is Glowing on Your Wedding Day
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. You’ve been dreaming about it since you were a little girl. You want to look and feel your absolute best when you walk down the aisle. Getting your skin to look flawless and radiant on your wedding day takes some preparation, but it is possible with the right skin care routine leading up to the big day. Follow these tips starting several months before your wedding to get your skin glowing.
Use Gentle Cleansers
The first step to glowing skin is keeping it clean. However, you want to be gentle and avoid anything that could cause irritation. Stay away from scrubs, toners, and astringents that contain alcohol or other harsh ingredients. Look for a creamy, moisturizing cleanser formulated for sensitive skin. Wash your face morning and night to remove makeup, oil, and dirt buildup. But don’t overdo it, as too much cleansing can strip your skin of the natural oils it needs.
Exfoliate Regularly
Exfoliating removes dead skin cells that can make your complexion look dull. Use an exfoliating cleanser or scrub two to three times a week. Focus on areas that are prone to dryness and flakiness, such as your nose, chin, and cheeks. Just don’t scrub too hard or you may cause redness. After exfoliating, always hydrate with a rich moisturizer.
Moisturize Daily
Dry skin never looks glowy. Replenish your skin’s moisture every morning and evening with a hydrating moisturizer suited to your skin type. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin that attract and seal in moisture. If your skin tends to be very dry, apply a face oil before your regular moisturizer for an extra boost of hydration.
Use Brightening Serums and Masks
For an added glow boost a few times a week, treat your skin to a brightening serum or mask. Vitamin C, licorice root extract, niacinamide, and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are all ingredients that diminish dullness and hyperpigmentation to reveal a more radiant complexion. Apply a serum before your moisturizer at night. Use a brightening sheet mask or creamy mask once or twice a week.
Get More Beauty Sleep
Aim for seven to nine hours of sleep per night in the months leading up to your wedding. While you sleep, your body repairs damage and rejuvenates your skin. Not getting enough sleep can lead to dark under eye circles, fine lines, and sallow skin—not the wedding day glow you want. Establish a relaxing pre-bedtime routine to help you wind down, like taking a warm bath, sipping chamomile tea, or practicing meditation.
Use an LED Eye Mask
The delicate skin around your eyes is one of the first places to show fatigue and aging. Using an LED eye mask can help reverse this. LED light therapy delivers wavelengths that penetrate skin to stimulate collagen production, ease inflammation, and accelerate cell turnover. This helps minimize fine lines, puffiness, and dark circles. Use an LED eye mask for 10-15 minutes a few times a week leading up to your wedding for brighter, well-rested looking eyes.
Getting gorgeous, radiant skin on your wedding day is possible with the right preparation. Use these tips and you will look absolutely stunning as you walk down the aisle to marry the love of your life.
