Questions To Ask When Planning A Wedding

Planning a wedding is, of course, an exciting time, but if we’re completely honest (and you are too), it’s also got the potential to be entirely overwhelming and difficult – from choosing the right flowers to getting the cake just right, there’s a ton of decisions to make, and that’s always hard. But don’t worry; if you ask the right questions from the start, it’s all going to become a lot easier. So with that in mind, here are some of the questions to ask when planning a wedding – read on to find out more.

What’s The Budget?

Let’s start with the one question no one wants to think about but that actually has to be dealt with before you can do anything else – what’s the budget? Your budget sets the tone for the rest of your planning, and unless you know how much you can spend, it’s going to be even more difficult to plan the wedding, so to save yourself stress and disappointment, knowing the budget is crucial.

Once you know how much you can spend, it’s wise to break it down and think about where you want to allocate the majority of the budget. Are flowers the most important thing to you? Do you want a brilliant photographer? Maybe it’s the reception you want to spend on. Whatever it is, knowing the answer early on is surely going to help.

What Should We Look For In A Venue?

Choosing the right wedding venue is a huge decision, and if you get it right, it’s going to make the day even more special and memorable (get it wrong and the day will still be memorable, but not for the right reasons!). Firstly, you’ll need to think about the location – is the venue easy for your guests to get to? The easier it is, the more likely it is you’ll be able to celebrate with the people you want.

You’ll also need to take a look at what’s included in the wedding. Some venues provide everything, and others just give you a room, so what’s your preference? Knowing what’s included (or not) in the package you’re paying for can help you budget better and avoid any unexpected costs and problems further on. Plus, can the place fit all the people you want to invite? Make sure the venue is the right size so everyone’s comfortable and safe.

How Many Guests?

Following on from the idea above, you’ll need to think long and hard about the guest list – it’s a potentially tricky area that needs some time dedicated to it. You want to share your big day with everyone you love, but realistically, the size of your guest list has a direct impact on your budget, so you might not be able to have quite as many people as you first thought.

Start with a rough number so that when you’re looking at venues or considering how much catering might cost, you’ll be able to get at least an estimate of what’s going to work and how much it’s going to cost. As you start to get replies to your invitations, you can adjust things, but starting with about the right number is definitely a good idea.
